First found in Lancashire where they were seated from very ancient times, some say well before the Norman Conquest and the arrival of Duke William at Hastings in 1066 A.D.
Some of the first settlers of this name or some of its variants were: John Bradshaw, who was recorded in Maryland in 1674; Captain William Bradshaw of Ireland who fled Connecticut in 1728 and settled in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, and many of the North American Bradshaws are descended from this stem.
