A notable member of the name was John Eade (1810-1876) the Scottish theologian and scholar, born in Alva. He published 'Biblical Cyclopaedia' in 1848, and a critical history of the English Bible in 1876. William Ede married Margary Bishop at St. George's, Hanover Square, London in 1803.
